demande de solidarité Timisoara
Posté : 18 janv. 2011 0:03
Je sais, c'est en anglais, c'est l'ami Tavi de Pavilionul 32 qui envoie cela :
hello friends.
this is a call for solidarity to all people we know and could maybe give a hand.
we are organising benefit events all over europe in order to keep alive a symbol or
romanian punk, do it yourself and activism. the Underground Timisoara Festival.
we send this message to:
- bands which will play this year in the festival
- bands who played in the past in the festival
- people we know from: making concerts for their bands in Timisoara/Romania, people
which help Pavilionul 32 on tours, people who visited Timisoara/Romania, and other
people or groups who we think might be interested or able to help.
someone tell me now, be carefull with aspect, orthografy, keep it short so that
people understand. FUCK THAT! most of you people either know the Underground
festival, Timisoara or Romania scene, Pavilionul 32 band or myself (supreme evil
Tavi)... i really dont feel like writing some bullshit just to convince you to
support us... i will send you a long detailed and painfull message...
at the end, after reading... even if you help or not, at least you will have a much
clearer view about situation in this city.
1. Underground Timisoara Festival. started 15 years ago, in the mid 90s when still
almost nothing was existing in romania at level of punk, diy or activism...
the festival during the years promoted many different styles, which later on
developed into small little scenes... with their good and bad parts... but still,
that is for others to annalise, not me.
even from first editions, festival was haunted with problems, interference from city
to stop it, police repression against travellin g people during the festival,
coflicts with local nazis, intent of total commercialisation by a student
organisation etc etc... all this situation built up to the moment when in 2008 was
the only year when The Underground was not taking place.
In this moment Gluga Neagra Collective decided to take over the organisation of the
festival and since 2009 we organise RECLAIM! Underground Timisoara festival. with a
little more of dinamic, a bigger international participation and much more Do It
Yourself ethics to the organisation (no sponsors permited! not big sound companies!
no shitty bouncers etc!).
2. Timisoara, Romania
as some of you know, Timisoara has been the palce where there is actual proof of
punk rock existence and organisation during Ceausescu time! highly repressed small
punk community of Plopi neighborhood, i might add. when underground apeeared and in
the following years, timisoara was one of the most influential city in romania...
together with punk rock city Craiova, it was an example to be followed by younger
friends in Bucharest, Cluj, Brasov, Iasi, Bistrita etc etc
anyway, since romania enters EU, migration starts to affect also local scene...
leaving less and less people taking care of local stuff... and also, this way
allowing the "nazi" scene to grow... leading to attacks on punks, concerts or
actions... same also, cop attention was given to the "scene" and more troubles
arrived... for some... (i could just remember last festival one person got 300euro
fine for sticking Underground posters!).
3. Social Centers in Timisoara
when more than music was needed Timisoara scene organised and presented itself with
INCA social center... another long attacked project by all sides city inspectors,
police, nazisand hooligans etc. after 5 years of hard resistance people got thrown
out in the streets by the city again...
2009 brought the Atelier DIY smaller size project, but runned on same principles:
self-organisation, do it yourself, autonomy and collectivelly-runned. hosting: diy
shows, film evenings, discussions and infoshop.
4. Pressure
as mor epeople left the scene or the city, few people left in timisoara are faced
with several different problems in organising anything. this is why, we started this
International Campaign of Support which we hope you will join in.
i know, realitty is more hard... and there is friends and comrades which are in
prisons and need our solidarity, others in hospitals, or other in trials or legal
problems... of course this people deserve more than anyone our support, and we also
the rest of the year try to get involved in supporting good causes...
but also reality is next: in all this chaos and madness of contemporary world,
"crisis", blablas... killing the Underground, will be a fatal thing for all 20 years
or more of building a resistance movement in romania.
more, we think Underground should be a place where to put again the engine of the
alternative culture and radical critique working, and inspiring other people to keep
going, and not to give up... we wnat to make COOL again "not giving up"... in a
society, and a scene where all people are depressed and ready to give up... we wish
to affirm our silly (maybe) belief that "giving up is NO alternative for us!"
5. Underground in 2011
as we see it now will be 20 bands (spain, france, germany, italy, austria, czech,
serbia, romania...) playing the concerts..
then we plan a set of discussion and workshops on themes like: diy film making,
feminism, pirate radios, self-management, diy publications, food not bombs etc
also for this time we plan a colaboration with Sub Art colective from Slovenia,
regarding sound and stage management, mobile kitchen and other parts... some of you
know festivals like Bakanika Core Festival or Krastival in Slovenia, whuich were
organised by our friends. it is a first time when festival has such a dimenssion of
collaboration between do it yourself collectives in 2 different countries
(ex-communist east/central europe/balkans). also a second collective from outside
romania, Serbia will join in...
6. projects in timisoara now
Gluga Neagra Collective www.gluganeagra.ro
Atelier DIY space... infos on site above about activitys there
Undergroun Timisoara Festival... http://ugtm.wordpress.com/
Food Not Bombs group http://hrananubombe.wordpress.com/
fanzines: Gluga Neagra (diy hc/punk), Slogan (diy/anarcho), Mauvais Jours
(situationist http://mauvaisjours.blogspot.com )
Lovekills collective/festival (anarchafeminist)
and few bands diy: Pavilionul 32, Livia Sura, Haos, Nomega, The Bad Days Will End...
7. as one of conditions was in 2009 when we started the new project of festival was
not to colaborate with commercial sponsors of any kind, we find relevant only
presence of public and bands, and the interactions and future actions between them!
so this will be in order to help the bands with transportation money... but other
stuff such as: sound transportation, sleeping place, the space for the concerts and
workshops, printed materials, food are just few of the other expences for this years
festival that we need help...
this is why we appeal to bands playing this year, or other bands we worked with, and
people we know...
8. one more detail freqvently forgot, and most of the times not mentioned by local
people by some kind of shame... small collective taking care of the events durring
the rest of the year (because its not just one event we do... its a constant work)
are sometimes faced with situations in many western countries is harder o imagine...
like not having sometimes not even the money to buy bread or toilet paper (they
always get pissed at me for saying this to people... but fuck off, this is
reality... not apollogy). asking such people to contribute from theyr own pockets
would be hilarious.
9. concret case: myself. i moved away to europe in order to find some jobs to work,
in order to pay debts from past events we organise. as i said, its reality, nobody
complains is fucked... we just explain it, and do whatever we know, or can in order
to survive it.
10. so, please write me in case you would be interested to organise a benefit
concert or other type of event for this years Underground Festival in Timisoara.
in case you are band, and dont want to organise a concert in your town... but want
to play it... just write us, we are "diy gipsy mafia" most probably we know some
collective or space which could help you make it in your town or area.
also if you are person or group who want to help or need some band, or more infos...
just write me at: pavilionul32@yahoo.com and i will help.
to avoid confussions we made in past... a strict expences list will be held, and at
the end of the festival will be available for all parts involved in the support
actions.
one more time:
WE REALISE THAT THERE ARE 100 BETTER CAUSES TO SUPPORT THAN THIS...
AND WE REALISE THAT THERE ARE 100 CONCERTS HAPPENING IN YOUR CITY IN NEXT MONTHS...
BUT IF YOU, LIKE US, THINK THAT THIS ACTION DESERVES YOUR SUPPORT, BY ALL MEANS
WRITE AND HELP... BECAUSE IT MATTERS.
at the end, i apologise for this somehow chaotic and impersonal message...
being so psyched with stuff we do, sometimes we loose track of friends and bands we
meet in last years... thats fucked... but (one more time) thats reality... most
probably it happens to most of yous also.
Tavi
ps: for any extra info, i am here. also is important to know if you dont wnat or
think cant organise it to tell us... so, that we stop stressing you :)
